"I Started a Joke" est une chanson des Bee Gees de leur album 1968 Idea, qui a été publié comme un seul en Décembre de cette année. Il n'a pas été publié comme un seul au Royaume-Uni, où les acheteurs qui ne pouvaient pas se permettre de l'album ont dû se contenter d'une version Polydor par Heath Hampstead. Ceci est le dernier single de Vince Melouney avec les Bee Gees à présenter son travail de guitare comme il a quitté le groupe au début de Décembre après cette chanson a été publié comme un seul. B-côté de la chanson était "Kilburn Towers", sauf en France, où "Swan Song" a été utilisé. "I Started a Joke" a été écrit par Barry, Robin et Maurice Gibb, et produit par les Bee Gees avec Robert Stigwood.
